Meetings

The format for our meetings have changed, starting the Fall of 2007. The meetings are either Info Nights or Socials. MPOMBA convenes in September, November, February, April and June. Our Program Convenor determines which months are Socials and which are Info Nights.

Socials are typically held at a location such as a restaurant or coffee house where MPOMBA provides complimentary appetizers or drinks. This is a casual setting where members can just chat and discuss and topics of interest.

Info nights are more structured and held upstairs at The Real Canadian Superstore at Hwy #401 and Winston Churchill. These meetings typically feature a speaker who discusses a topic of interest to parents and sometimes, particularly of interest to parents of multiples. Speakers are arranged by the Program Convener who is always happy to follow up on suggestions from members.

Examples of topics that past speakers have covered are: nutrition, education, stress management, fire safety, and child safety. There is also an opportunity to discuss any particular concerns you may have in an open floor discussion format.

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month, with the exception of January and September, which are held on the second Wednesday. There are no meetings held during the summer months of July and August.

Meetings begin at 8pm. Newborns are permitted at the Meetings and at New/Expectant Parents' Nights.

New & Expectant Parents' Night

MPOMBA has meeting geared especially to new and expectant parents four times a year. These meetings are a combination of informal gathering and panel discussion with MPOMBA parents. They give new and expectant parents a chance to meet members with similar concerns and issues. The guest panel share their experiences with young multiples and answer question that new and expectant parents might have. Newborns up to six months are welcome to accompany you to these meetings.

Planning Meetings

Planning meetings are schedule for the third Wednesday of every month. They are usually, but not always, held at the same location as our General Meetings. Date and time are posted in the previous month's newsletter. If you want to get actively involved in the club, come out to one of these meetings. If you have any questions about the location or time, please call any member of the Executive.

Social Events

MPOMBA organizes three social events a year for member families. A Christmas Party and Summer Picnic are organized for family. Parents' Night Out is planned for adults only. In the past, these events have been very popular. They give our families a chance to get out, socialize with other families and have fun! These events are for members and their families only. Due to the size of our Club, we must insist that the numbers are limited to immediate family. Participation of any other children or adults must be authorized by the current Summer Picnic Coordinator or Christmas Part Coordinator prior to the event. The Christmas Party is held in late November, and the Summer Picnic in late June. Attractions at past parties have included clowns, magicians, bouncing rooms, mini-circuit cats, and Discovery Toys play area. Come on out and enjoy!
